The game development

Hello – I’m Robin, the creator of Space Rescue. And in this section, I want to give you a sneak peek of how I make the art for the game. I hope you will find it intersting!

making illustrations

Space Rescue consists out of hundreds of unique illustrations. And to make sure everything looks the same, I always try to use the same colors, linework and level of detail in every illustration. Below you can see how I use my previous work as reference.

hand drawn animations

Space Rescue is filled with all sorts of animations, ranging from hovering spaceships, to fully animated sex scenes. And here you can see how I create the animations — from animated sketch to final animation!

Storyboarding scenes

I try to storyboard all my scenes, to make sure the characters stand out from the background – and have enough room to move around.

And once I’m happy with the storyboard, I will first refine the art & then make the animations for the scene.

background creation

For each background I first make a sketch. When it’s done, I make sure to put everything in the right perspective, and then I start on the linework.

And after the linework is done, I start painting the colors. I begin by adding blocks of a mid-tone color and then add shadows and highlights.
